I’ve had a revelation this morning. I’m subscribed to this daily devotional called She Reads Truth. (Ladies, when you get the chance. Check them out. It’ll change how you spend time with Jesus).
The way that I pray has become so not intimate. I pray as if God was sitting on His throne chilling with Jesus as I leave a message on His voicemail for Him to answer later.
“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” (John 14:15-17 NLT)
That “later” part that Jesus is taking about is NOW!
God is with us, everywhere we are. And He’s with us when we pray.
So what if we prayed as if God was sitting right in front of us, ears inclined, and ready to respond? What if we prayed as if we were actually having a conversation with God instead of listing off things for Him to do for us? What if we prayed as if to have the inmate relationship that He so desires?
What if we changed the way we pray? What do you think? Leave comments below and share insight on how we can deepen our relationship with the Father.
